Pet of the Week in FoCo

🐾 Pet of the Week in FoCo: Celebrating the Pets That Make Forsyth County Feel Like Home

Every pet has a story, and here in Forsyth County, we know that our four-legged, feathered, and even scaly family members deserve their moment in the spotlight.

Welcome to Pet of the Week in FoCo, a new weekly feature from LivingInForsyth.com where we celebrate the amazing pets that bring joy, laughter, comfort, and unconditional love to families throughout Forsyth County and North Georgia.

Whether they’re greeting you at the front door after a long day, joining you on a hike at Sawnee Mountain Preserve, riding shotgun on a trip around Lake Lanier, or simply curled up beside you on the couch, our pets are much more than animals—they’re family.

Why We Love Pets in Forsyth County

Forsyth County is one of Georgia’s most pet-friendly communities. With miles of walking trails, beautiful parks, neighborhoods designed for active lifestyles, and countless outdoor adventures, it’s easy to see why so many families include a dog, cat, or other beloved companion in their lives.

You’ll find neighbors walking their dogs along the Big Creek Greenway, families enjoying afternoons at local parks, and pet owners visiting many of the area’s pet-friendly restaurants and businesses. Whether you have a playful Labrador, a rescued mixed breed, a pampered Persian cat, or an energetic Australian Shepherd, there’s a place for every pet in our community.

Pets enrich our lives in countless ways. They reduce stress, encourage exercise, teach children responsibility, provide companionship for seniors, and often become the heart of the household. They celebrate our happiest moments and comfort us during life’s challenges.

That’s something worth celebrating.

Meet Our Pet of the Week

Each week, LivingInForsyth.com will feature one outstanding local pet along with their story, favorite activities, personality, and of course—lots of adorable photos.

We’ll introduce readers to pets from every corner of Forsyth County, including Cumming, Coal Mountain, Midway, Big Creek, North Forsyth, South Forsyth, and everywhere in between.

Some of our featured pets may be:

  • The neighborhood’s friendliest Golden Retriever
  • A rescue dog with an incredible second chance story
  • A cat who rules the household with charm and attitude
  • A therapy animal making a difference in our community
  • A hardworking farm animal with a unique personality
  • An exotic pet that’s unlike anything you’ve ever seen

Every pet has a story worth sharing.

We’d Love to Meet Your Best Friend

This is where you come in!

We’re inviting families across Forsyth County to submit photos of their favorite pets for consideration as a future Pet of the Week in FoCo.

Tell us:

  • Your pet’s name
  • Breed (or best guess!)
  • Age
  • Favorite toy or activity
  • Funniest habit
  • Favorite place to visit in Forsyth County
  • A short story about what makes your pet special

Whether your companion is a playful puppy, a distinguished senior dog, a mischievous kitten, a horse, rabbit, bird, reptile, or any other beloved family member, we’d love to meet them.

High-quality photos are always appreciated, but don’t worry if you’re not a professional photographer. Sometimes the most memorable pictures are the candid moments that capture your pet’s unique personality.

Helping Local Pets Find Loving Homes

While we’re celebrating family pets each week, we also want to shine a light on the incredible work being done by local animal shelters, rescue organizations, foster families, and volunteers throughout Forsyth County.

Throughout the year we’ll feature adoptable pets, promote adoption events, highlight local rescue organizations, and share helpful pet care resources. If even one featured story helps an animal find its forever home, we’ll consider that a tremendous success.

Supporting Local Pet Businesses

Our community is home to outstanding veterinarians, groomers, trainers, pet boutiques, boarding facilities, dog walkers, photographers, and other businesses dedicated to helping pets live happy, healthy lives.

As Pet of the Week grows, we’ll introduce readers to many of these outstanding local businesses and professionals who help keep our pets healthy and happy.

If you own a pet-related business in Forsyth County and would like to partner with LivingInForsyth.com, we’d love to hear from you.
